Every Decent transformation begins with a brief evaluation of the organization's existing structure.
This activity provides insights into value, risk, ownership, dependency, and process relationships - then sets a starting point for onboarding.
Goals
Specific focuses for this evaluation include:
- Map current structure.
- Evaluate scope maturity.
- Analyze decision infrastructure.
- Review risk strategy.
- Understand officer powers.
- Gauge capital literacy.
These data points allow us to identify and model an organization's value structure.
Deliverables
Upon completion our professionals will create and present the following artifacts:
- Current State Value Chain Map™
- Summary of Structural Findings
- Implementation Plan
- Licensing and Support Details
These artifacts will demonstrate value, provide clear next steps, and directly support future requirements.
Format
This evaluation is typically conducted over a 30-day period, free of charge, with minimal client involvement. Activities usually include:
- Executive and Senior Leader Interviews
- Financial Review
- Org Chart Review
- Architecture Review
- Process and Approval Review
- Occasional Junior-Level Interviews
Executive and senior interviews are typically front-loaded, then reviews are conducted for specific areas of interest. In some cases, junior-level interviews may be included to better understand value-dense or process-heavy parts of an organization.
Requirements
Prior to conducting a Value Discovery evaluation, we recommend completing the following:
- Secure Board-Level Sponsorship
- Prepare High-Level Artifacts or Onboarding Support for:
- Financials (Revenue Booking, P/L, Cost Centers, POs)
- Org Chart (Workday, Active Directory, Teams, Docs)
- Architecture, Operations, or Manufacturing Diagrams
- Business Process Inventory (Budgeting, Quarterly Planning, Change Control, GTM)
- Test Fit with The Art of Decent Structure™
It is important to set expectations early, as the Decent Framework™ is implemented top-down. Artifact and access availability may extend the evaluation timeline if not secured ahead of time.
